Voluntary trip records.
No surveillance.
Built for Search & Rescue.

HikerID is infrastructure, not a consumer app.
Hikers record trip intent at trailheads via QR code.
Each trip becomes a fixed, verifiable record.
If a hiker goes overdue, a trusted contact has immediate access to the record.
That information can be quickly shared with Search & Rescue.

No monitoring. No automated escalation. No selling data.

How HikerID Works

At the trailhead

At participating trailheads, a sign displays a unique QR code for that location.
A hiker scans the code and completes a short form. The trail information is pre-filled.
The hiker provides their name, expected return time, and a trusted contact.

One text message

When the trip is recorded, one SMS is sent to the trusted contact with a link to the trip record.
No app. No account. No tracking.

When a hiker is overdue

If a hiker becomes overdue, the trusted contact typically initiates a 911 call.
They can provide Search & Rescue with the trip record link, which contains the relevant trip details.
